Description

As colleges and universities face increasing calls for change, the question arises: How can we determine and implement successful innovations? While many, including leaders across faculty and staff, can feel pressure to provide answers from the top-down, there is an alternative approach that creates solutions from the ground up: co-design with students. In this approach, students work directly with faculty in the co-creation of curricula and courses.

Recently, three start-up universities have used the co-design approach to establish their academic programs: New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering in Hereford, UK; High Meadows Graduate School of Teaching and Learning, in Boston; and Fulbright University Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City. In this webinar, leaders from these institutions discuss their “Co-Design Years,” including benefits, challenges, and key questions. The lessons are relevant to anyone contemplating innovation, whether in a classroom or across an institution.
